Engineering Supervisor

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

SUMMARY:

The Engineering Supervisor is responsible for providing technical and administrative assistance to the Director of engineering and providing leadership in all operational aspects of the Engineering Department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide professional and courteous service to team members and guests.
  • Maintain all maintenance and preventative maintenance issues: refrigeration, heating, plumbing, water treatment, preventative maintenance, convention center front and back of house spaces, A/C units, ice machines, lighting, kitchen equipment, emergency generators, water softeners, switch rooms, roof exhausts, electrical substations, etc.
  • Conducting daily walkthroughs to monitor electric, gas, and water consumption.
  • Train all engineering staff and ensure completion of required tasks
  • Assign and ensure all projects are completed according to specifications and are completed on time.
  • Understand and practice all lock out-tag out procedures along with other safety practices by OSHA standards.
  • Perform all guestroom, F&B, Conference, public area, and back of the house preventive maintenance services.
  • Perform maintenance checks of equipment and logs properly.
  • Report all safety and security concerns to the Director of Engineering or the Manager on Duty immediately.
  • Ensure all key inventories are secure.
  • Respond to all emergencies prepared to assist.
  • Participate in ongoing maintenance programs for event space, public space, kitchens, and all convention center equipment.
  • Perform inventory duties as required.
  • Maintain cleanliness of grounds and attractiveness of landscaping.
  • Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of all workspace and storage areas.
  • Purchase any material or equipment required.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings.
  • Complete projects as determined by the Director of Engineer.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • HVAC, electrical, carpentry, and painting experience required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of hotel engineering experience preferred.
  • A minimum of 1 year in a Supervisory or Management role.
  • Condo/Hotel experience preferred.
  • Experience with pre-opening preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

EDUCATION:

  • High School graduate or equivalent required. Four-year college degree preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish (preferred).

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests, associates, and external partners.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies.
