Housekeeping Supervisor

Department: Gale Miami - Housekeeping
Location: Miami, FL

SUMMARY:

The Housekeeping Supervisor’s responsibilities include assigning tasks to the housekeeping staff, identifying and reporting cases of tardiness, and monitoring cleaning supplies.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assigning housekeeping tasks to staff and inspecting work to ensure that the prescribed standards of cleanliness are met.
  • Providing training to the housekeeping staff.
  • Oversee staff daily.
  • Check rooms and common areas, including stairways and lounge areas, for cleanliness.
  • Schedule shifts and arrange for replacements in cases of absence.
  • Motivate team members and resolve any issues that occur on the job.
  • Investigating and addressing complaints regarding poor housekeeping service.
  • Respond to customer complaints and special requests.
  • Monitor and replenish cleaning products stock including floor cleaner, bleach, and rubber gloves.
  • Participate in large cleaning projects as required.
  • Inform management of any equipment or furniture in need of repair.
  • Screening housekeeping applicants and recommending promotions, transfers, and dismissals.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation policies in all areas.
  • Able to open and close the house when needed.
  • Able to cover Room attendant/ houseman callouts if needed.
  • Perform any other duties requested by Management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Housekeeping Supervisor in a Hotel or similar role.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Hands-on experience with cleaning and maintenance tasks for large organizations.
  • Ability to use industrial cleaning equipment and products.
  • Knowledge of various cleaning chemicals and supplies.
  • Excellent organizational and team management skills.
  • Stamina to handle the physical demands of the job.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.

EDUCATION:

  • High School degree, GED or Equivalent.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish (preferred).

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests, associates, and external partners.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies.
