SUMMARY:

Cook II is responsible for preparing and cooking menu items in accordance with established recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines. This role supports daily kitchen operations by handling more advanced cooking tasks, maintaining food quality and consistency, and assisting in guiding less experienced kitchen staff. The Cook II works closely with the culinary leadership team to ensure efficient service and a well-organized kitchen environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes, portion standards, and presentation guidelines.
  • Assist with daily food preparation, including chopping, marinating, and portioning ingredients.
  • Monitor food quality and presentation to ensure consistency with restaurant standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen workstations, equipment, and storage areas.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations, including proper food handling and storage procedures.
  • Assist with inventory control by monitoring stock levels and notifying management when supplies are low.
  • Support kitchen leadership by training and assisting Cook I and other kitchen staff in proper food preparation techniques.
  • Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure efficient and timely service, especially during high-volume periods.
  • Assist with preparation for special events, banquets, and catering functions as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; culinary degree or certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a commercial kitchen environment.
  • Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, food safety, and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
